Hong Kong SAR (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) were the main destinations of pumpkin exports from Japan, with a combined 99% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for South Korea (with a CAGR of +44.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) remains the key foreign market for pumpkin (squash and gourds) exports from Japan, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 4.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Hong Kong SAR amounted to +8.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+34.0% per year) and Singapore (+2.0% per year).

The average pumpkin export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -4.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 55%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Pumpkin imports into Japan dropped to X tons in 2022, waning by -8.9% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 9.1% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, pumpkin imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 9.4%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

New Zealand (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) were the main suppliers of pumpkin imports to Japan.
