Sunflower Seed Market Size in Japan

The Japanese sunflower seed market fell markedly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a deep setback. Imports into Japan

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of sunflower seed increased by 10% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sunflower seed imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw tangible growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Canada (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of sunflower seed imports to Japan, together comprising 65% of total imports.
