The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 7% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 4.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States stood at -3.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-11.1% per year) and Russia (-15.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average passenger car tyre export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 5.7% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, passenger car tyre export price increased by +21.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 54% against the previous year. Imports into Japan
In 2021, approx. X units of tyres for motor cars were imported into Japan; surging by 1.7% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, passenger car tyre imports totaled $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight downturn. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X units), Thailand (X units) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) were the main suppliers of passenger car tyre imports to Japan, together comprising 54% of total imports. Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, South Korea, Vietnam, Spain, the United States, Italy, France and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +60.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average passenger car tyre import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight reduction. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices from Vietnam ($X per unit) and the Philippines ($X per unit), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) and Italy ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
