The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.

Italy (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of uncooked pasta imports to Japan, together accounting for 79% of total imports. China, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +11.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
