The United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the main destination for citrus fruit jams and marmalades exports from Jordan, accounting for a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, citrus fruit jams and marmalades exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), fourfold. Yemen (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United Arab Emirates amounted to +14.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+30.1% per year) and Yemen (-14.2% per year).

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for citrus fruit jams, marmalades, jellies, purees or pastes exports from Jordan, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 4.1% share.

In 2022, overseas purchases of citrus fruit jams, marmalades, jellies, purees or pastes decreased by -30.6% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, imports, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 2,190%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, citrus fruit jams and marmalades imports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 1,451%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Egypt (X tons) was the main supplier of citrus fruit jams and marmalades to Jordan, accounting for a 90% share of total imports. Moreover, citrus fruit jams and marmalades imports from Egypt exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United States (X tons), with a 2.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Egypt stood at +32.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+97.1% per year) and the United States (+46.3% per year).
