In value terms, essential oils exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 529% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Qatar (X tons) was the main destination for essential oils exports from Jordan, accounting for a 65% share of total exports. Moreover, essential oils exports to Qatar exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Iraq (X tons), twofold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Qatar stood at +9.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Iraq (+8.5% per year) and Palestine (+5.4% per year).

In value terms, Iraq ($X) remains the key foreign market for essential oils exports from Jordan, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Palestine ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Iraq stood at +25.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Palestine (+21.2% per year) and Qatar (+11.9% per year).

The average essential oils export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -40.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 134% against the previous year. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, essential oils imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 35%. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Brazil (X tons), Pakistan (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main suppliers of essential oils imports to Jordan, together accounting for 69% of total imports. India, Lebanon, the United States, China and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lebanon (with a CAGR of +26.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Pakistan ($X), India ($X) and Brazil ($X) constituted the largest essential oils suppliers to Jordan, together comprising 57% of total imports. Lebanon, the United States, the UK, China and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
