In 2022, the Jordanian non-combined refrigerator-freezer market decreased by -41% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, consumption saw a slight downturn. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 137%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Lebanon (X units), Free Zones (X units) and Iraq (X units) were the main destinations of non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports from Jordan, with a combined 98% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Lebanon (with a CAGR of +84.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Lebanon ($X), Free Zones ($X) and Iraq ($X) were the largest markets for non-combined refrigerator-freezer exported from Jordan worldwide, together accounting for 97% of total exports.

Lebanon, with a CAGR of +87.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Export Prices by Country

The average non-combined refrigerator-freezer export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 147% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Palestine ($X per unit) and Lebanon ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($X per unit) and Free Zones ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+28.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined), when their volume decreased by -36.8% to X units. In general, imports recorded a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 41%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a slight reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 60%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Egypt (X units), China (X units) and Thailand (X units) were the main suppliers of non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports to Jordan, together accounting for 65% of total imports. Turkey, Romania, Lebanon, Indonesia, Italy, Poland and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Lebanon (with a CAGR of +74.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-combined refrigerator-freezer suppliers to Jordan were Egypt ($X), China ($X) and Thailand ($X), together comprising 65% of total imports. Turkey, Romania, Indonesia, Lebanon, Italy, Poland and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Lebanon, with a CAGR of +79.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average non-combined refrigerator-freezer import price amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -4.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 19%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
