In 2022, overseas purchases of malt extract and food preparations of flour, meal, and starches decreased by -39% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 107%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.

In value terms, imports of malt extract and food preparations of flour, meal, and starches dropped notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a slight descent.
