The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 1,005%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, other chemical products exports shrank remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 1,172%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the main destination for other chemical products exports from Jordan, accounting for a 61% share of total exports. Moreover, other chemical products exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Algeria (X tons), fivefold. Lebanon (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Saudi Arabia amounted to -4.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Algeria (-25.3% per year) and Lebanon (-26.2% per year).

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X), Algeria ($X) and Lebanon ($X) were the largest markets for other chemical products exported from Jordan worldwide, with a combined 66% share of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +2.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The average other chemical products export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -3.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+83.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Jordan

After five years of growth, supplies from abroad of other chemical products decreased by -1.4% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 5.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, other chemical products imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 2.4% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Spain (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of other chemical products imports to Jordan, together comprising 54% of total imports. Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Turkey, the United States, Egypt, Kuwait, Free Zones, Italy and Canada lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +93.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain ($X), Germany ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest other chemical products suppliers to Jordan, together comprising 52% of total imports. India, the United States, China, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Egypt, Free Zones, Kuwait and Canada lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

Among the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +59.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average other chemical products import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 8%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
