Imports into Jordan
In 2022, approx. X tons of potato chips were imported into Jordan; reducing by -41.5% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 27,193% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, potato chips imports fell sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed significant growth. In 2022, Saudi Arabia (X tons) constituted the largest potato chips supplier to Jordan, with a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, potato chips imports from Saudi Arabia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Belgium (X tons), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Saudi Arabia amounted to -14.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+3.1% per year) and Belgium (+32.1% per year).
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of potato chips to Jordan, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with an 11% share.
