Concrete Tile Market Size in Jordan

The Jordanian concrete tile market rose slightly to $X in 2022, growing by 4.3% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a temperate increase. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Concrete Tile Production in Jordan

In value terms, concrete tile production rose rapidly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, showed tangible growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Concrete tile production peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a precipitous shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concrete tile exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, faced a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 65%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the main destination for concrete tile exports from Jordan, with a 90% share of total exports. Moreover, concrete tile exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Qatar (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Saudi Arabia amounted to -21.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (+7.2% per year) and Iraq (-56.3% per year).

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) remains the key foreign market for tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone exports from Jordan, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Qatar ($X), with a 9.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Saudi Arabia totaled -9.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (+17.4% per year) and Iraq (-49.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average concrete tile export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 218%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iraq ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+16.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Concrete Tile Imports

Imports into Jordan

For the fourth year in a row, Jordan recorded growth in overseas purchases of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone, which increased by 156% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 432%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, concrete tile imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 356%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of concrete tile to Jordan, with a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, concrete tile imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Saudi Arabia (X tons), fivefold. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United Arab Emirates stood at +103.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (+76.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (+40.4% per year).

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone to Jordan, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Portugal, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the United Arab Emirates stood at +80.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+70.6% per year) and Portugal (+84.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average concrete tile import price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -47.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 112% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
