Vegetable Puree Market Size in Jordan

The Jordanian vegetable puree market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after five years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, posted prominent growth. In 2022, exports of vegetable puree from Jordan reduced to X tons, declining by -8.1% against 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 307% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, vegetable puree exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 383%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the main destination for vegetable puree exports from Jordan, with a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, vegetable puree exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kuwait (X tons), eightfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Saudi Arabia amounted to +47.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kuwait (+11.3% per year) and Qatar (+5.0% per year).

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) remains the key foreign market for vegetable puree exports from Jordan, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kuwait ($X), with a 4.7% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Saudi Arabia totaled +66.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kuwait (+11.4% per year) and Qatar (+2.2% per year).

In 2022, the average vegetable puree export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 70% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 105% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the fourth year in a row, Jordan recorded decline in purchases abroad of vegetable puree, which decreased by -4.4% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed a sharp setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 121% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, vegetable puree imports totaled $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 82%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Lebanon (X tons) constituted the largest vegetable puree supplier to Jordan, accounting for a 58% share of total imports. Moreover, vegetable puree imports from Lebanon exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Egypt (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X tons), with a 9.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Lebanon totaled +2.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Egypt (-25.5% per year) and Turkey (+4.4% per year).

In value terms, Lebanon ($X) constituted the largest supplier of vegetable puree to Jordan, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Egypt ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 9.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Lebanon amounted to +11.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Egypt (-15.9% per year) and Turkey (+10.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average vegetable puree import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 40%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Japan ($X per ton) and Spain ($X per ton), while the price for the UK ($X per ton) and Egypt ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
