Iraq (X tons) was the main destination for whey exports from Jordan, accounting for a 87% share of total exports. Moreover, whey exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), sevenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Iraq totaled +7.2%.
In value terms, Iraq ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for whey exports from Jordan, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 13% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average whey export price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -41.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 85% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Jordan
In 2022, overseas purchases of whey decreased by -36.7% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted modest growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 72%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
In value terms, whey imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a temperate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 72%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main suppliers of whey imports to Jordan, with a combined 64% share of total imports. Spain, France, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +129.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Poland ($X) and Belarus ($X) appeared to be the largest whey suppliers to Jordan, with a combined 64% share of total imports. Spain, France, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

In general, import price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, whey import price increased by +63.2% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 22%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Belarus ($X per ton) and Ukraine ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) and Lithuania ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
