The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +46.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 43%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Georgia (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main destinations of aluminium exports from Kazakhstan, together comprising 53% of total exports.

In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 856% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aluminium imports fell sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 617%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest aluminium supplier to Kazakhstan, with a 58% share of total imports. Moreover, aluminium imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), twofold.
