In value terms, animal feed exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 3,024% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
China (X tons) was the main destination for animal feed exports from Kazakhstan, accounting for a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, animal feed exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Tajikistan (X tons), fivefold. Russia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to China amounted to +524.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tajikistan (+95.8% per year) and Russia (+194.0% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), Russia ($X) and Tajikistan ($X) constituted the largest markets for animal feed exported from Kazakhstan worldwide, together comprising 91% of total exports.
China, with a CAGR of +541.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average animal feed export price amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 66%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of animal and pet feed, when their volume decreased by -5.2% to X tons. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 24%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, animal feed imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of animal feed to Kazakhstan, accounting for a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, animal feed imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), tenfold. The Netherlands (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+0.2% per year) and the Netherlands (+7.7% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of animal and pet feed to Kazakhstan, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with an 8.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia totaled +9.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+165.1% per year) and Germany (+6.5% per year).

In 2022, the average animal feed import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 61%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
