In value terms, cabbage exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 351%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia (X tons) was the main destination for cabbage exports from Kazakhstan, accounting for a 84% share of total exports. Moreover, cabbage exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belarus (X tons), fivefold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia totaled +36.9%.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for cabbage and other brassicas exports from Kazakhstan, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 31% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Russia totaled +41.3%.
Export Prices by Country
The average cabbage export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cabbage export price increased by +41.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 86%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+17.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Kazakhstan
In 2022, purchases abroad of cabbage and other brassicas increased by 70% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 181%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, cabbage imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 184% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Uzbekistan (X tons) constituted the largest cabbage supplier to Kazakhstan, accounting for a 90% share of total imports. Moreover, cabbage imports from Uzbekistan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkmenistan (X tons), more than tenfold. Tajikistan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Uzbekistan totaled +27.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkmenistan (+21.0% per year) and Tajikistan (+32.8% per year).
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of cabbage and other brassicas to Kazakhstan, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkmenistan ($X), with a 7.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Uzbekistan amounted to +12.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkmenistan (+21.5% per year) and Tajikistan (+23.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average cabbage import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -14.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 69% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkmenistan (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
