In 2022, South Korea (X units) constituted the largest contact lense supplier to Kazakhstan, with a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, contact lense imports from South Korea exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X units), fourfold. Ireland (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from South Korea totaled +216.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (+26.3% per year) and Ireland (+38.8% per year).

In value terms, the largest contact lense suppliers to Kazakhstan were Ireland ($X), Russia ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 72% share of total imports. The UK, South Korea and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.

South Korea, with a CAGR of +107.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average contact lense import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -2.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 23%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the price for South Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (-5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
