For the third year in a row, the Kazakh wooden door market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 24% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wooden door exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 510% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Afghanistan (X units) was the main destination for wooden door exports from Kazakhstan, with a 49% share of total exports. Moreover, wooden door exports to Afghanistan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X units), twofold. Kyrgyzstan (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 16% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Afghanistan totaled +51.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+33.4% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+18.1% per year).

In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X), Russia ($X) and Afghanistan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for wooden door exported from Kazakhstan worldwide, together accounting for 78% of total exports. These countries were followed by Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Tajikistan and Belarus, which together accounted for a further 21%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Ukraine, with a CAGR of +42.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average wooden door export price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -39.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 32%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Afghanistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In value terms, wooden door imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 41%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Russia (X units) was the main wooden door supplier to Kazakhstan, with a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, wooden door imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belarus (X units), more than tenfold. Ukraine (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 1.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Russia amounted to +14.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (-6.2% per year) and Ukraine (-28.9% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of doors and their frames and thresholds of wood to Kazakhstan, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 9.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Ukraine, with a 1.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia totaled +6.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (-7.5% per year) and Ukraine (-31.0% per year).

In 2021, the average wooden door import price amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 20% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while the price for Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
