In 2021, the Kazakh fish meals and pellet market increased by 102% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a perceptible setback. In value terms, fish meals and pellet exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 255%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Belarus (X tons) was the main destination for fish meals and pellet exports from Kazakhstan, accounting for a 82% share of total exports. Moreover, fish meals and pellet exports to Belarus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), fivefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Belarus amounted to +32.1%.

In value terms, the largest markets for fish meals and pellet exported from Kazakhstan were Russia ($X) and Belarus ($X).

In 2021, fish meals and pellet imports into Kazakhstan soared to X tons, growing by 119% against the year before. Overall, imports enjoyed a strong increase. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
