For the third year in a row, the Kazakh plastic furniture market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 17% to $X in 2021. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 1,118% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic furniture exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 659%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Russia (X units) was the main destination for plastic furniture exports from Kazakhstan, with a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic furniture exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kyrgyzstan (X units), sixfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Russia stood at +62.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (-3.8% per year) and Uzbekistan (+297.5% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for plastic furniture exported from Kazakhstan were Russia ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), together accounting for 95% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +361.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average plastic furniture export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -20.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 169% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of furniture of plastic increased by 23% to X units, rising for the sixth consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 135% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic furniture imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 172% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In 2021, Russia (X units) constituted the largest plastic furniture supplier to Kazakhstan, with a 69% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic furniture imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), fivefold. Israel (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Russia stood at +65.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-0.4% per year) and Israel (+44.3% per year).

Among the main suppliers, Israel, with a CAGR of +48.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, the average plastic furniture import price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 3.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
