After two years of growth, purchases abroad of lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) decreased by -46.4% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) imports contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild increase. China (X units), Russia (X units) and France (X units) were the main suppliers of lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) imports to Kazakhstan, with a combined 72% share of total imports. Italy, Vietnam, Germany, Portugal and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Portugal (with a CAGR of +122.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
