Lead Market Size in Kazakhstan

After three years of decline, the Kazakh lead market increased by 71% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, lead production fell modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, the total production indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. Exports from Kazakhstan

In 2022, exports of lead from Kazakhstan contracted dramatically to X tons, with a decrease of -17.8% on the previous year. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Vietnam (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of lead exports from Kazakhstan, with a combined 71% share of total exports.

The average lead export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -18.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Italy ($X per ton) and the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($X per ton) and Vietnam ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Lead Imports

Imports into Kazakhstan

In 2022, approx. X tons of lead were imported into Kazakhstan; waning by -75.2% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 1,311% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lead imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 1,118%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

Russia (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) were the main suppliers of lead imports to Kazakhstan, together comprising 94% of total imports.

In value terms, Tajikistan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of lead to Kazakhstan, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 12% share.

The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+35.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
