Exports from Kazakhstan

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of plastic fittings for furniture decreased by -25.5% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 801%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then reduced notably in the following year.

In value terms, plastic furniture fittings exports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 713% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Kyrgyzstan (X tons) was the main destination for plastic furniture fittings exports from Kazakhstan, with a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic furniture fittings exports to Kyrgyzstan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), threefold. Japan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Kyrgyzstan stood at +47.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+31.6% per year) and Japan (+36.8% per year).

In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X), Russia ($X) and Japan ($X) constituted the largest markets for plastic furniture fittings exported from Kazakhstan worldwide, together accounting for 87% of total exports. Uzbekistan and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 4.4%.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +61.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average plastic furniture fittings export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 17% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 51%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Kazakhstan

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of plastic fittings for furniture, when their volume decreased by -12.9% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 59%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, plastic furniture fittings imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +94.1% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Russia (X tons), China (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of plastic furniture fittings imports to Kazakhstan, with a combined 88% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Austria and Kyrgyzstan, which together accounted for a further 3.7%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of +15.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X), China ($X) and Austria ($X) appeared to be the largest plastic furniture fittings suppliers to Kazakhstan, with a combined 75% share of total imports.

In 2021, the average plastic furniture fittings import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 34% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 41%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
