Reclaimed Rubber Market Size in Kazakhstan
In 2021, after four years of growth, there was decline in the Kazakh reclaimed rubber market, when its value decreased by -2.4% to $X. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +76.9% against 2016 indices. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2020, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
Reclaimed Rubber Production in Kazakhstan
In value terms, reclaimed rubber production shrank modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, the total production indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +87.8% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by 43%. Reclaimed rubber production peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
Reclaimed Rubber Exports
Exports from Kazakhstan
In 2021, the amount of reclaimed rubber exported from Kazakhstan declined rapidly to X tons, which is down by -52.1% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a sharp reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 300%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, reclaimed rubber exports declined remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a sharp slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 222%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Uzbekistan (X tons) was the main destination for reclaimed rubber exports from Kazakhstan, accounting for a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, reclaimed rubber exports to Uzbekistan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), threefold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Uzbekistan amounted to -20.5%.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) and Russia ($X) were the largest markets for reclaimed rubber exported from Kazakhstan worldwide.
Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of -20.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average reclaimed rubber export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.9% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, reclaimed rubber export price increased by +76.6% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 28% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+9.6%).
Reclaimed Rubber Imports
Imports into Kazakhstan
In 2021, after three years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of reclaimed rubber, when their volume decreased by -4.7% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 444%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, reclaimed rubber imports fell to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 688%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Belarus (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of reclaimed rubber to Kazakhstan, accounting for a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, reclaimed rubber imports from Belarus exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X tons), sixfold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belarus totaled +41.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (+34.5% per year) and China (+7.7% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X), Belarus ($X) and China ($X) were the largest reclaimed rubber suppliers to Kazakhstan, together accounting for 83% of total imports.
Russia, with a CAGR of +34.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average reclaimed rubber import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 45% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+22.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
