Sorghum Market Size in Kazakhstan

The Kazakh sorghum market declined to $X in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a significant expansion. Sorghum consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the average sorghum yield in Kazakhstan was estimated at X kg per ha, with an increase of 4% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, the yield recorded a measured increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the yield increased by 136% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 1,956%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, sorghum imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 3,172%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the main supplier of sorghum to Kazakhstan, with a 96% share of total imports. It was followed by France (X tons), with a 2.3% share of total imports.
