Russia (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) were the main destinations of stranded wire exports from Kazakhstan, together comprising 92% of total exports. Ukraine, Malaysia and Turkmenistan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 7.4%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +384.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X), Russia ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for stranded wire exported from Kazakhstan worldwide, with a combined 89% share of total exports. Malaysia, Ukraine and Turkmenistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 10%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +363.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average stranded wire export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 19% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 74%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Afghanistan (+39.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Kazakhstan
Stranded wire imports into Kazakhstan stood at X tons in 2021, growing by 5.1% on 2020. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 52%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, stranded wire imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of stranded wire to Kazakhstan, with a 84% share of total imports. Moreover, stranded wire imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Uzbekistan (X tons), with a 1.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-4.4% per year) and Uzbekistan (+110.2% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of stranded wire, ropes and cables to Kazakhstan, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-4.9% per year) and Uzbekistan (+110.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average stranded wire import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
