The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 137%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia (X pairs) was the main destination for athletic footwear exports from Kazakhstan, accounting for a 67% share of total exports. Moreover, athletic footwear exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Jordan (X pairs), twofold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Russia amounted to -34.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Jordan (-78.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-8.2% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for athletic footwear exports from Kazakhstan, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Jordan ($X), with a 29% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Russia amounted to -32.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Jordan (-80.8% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-4.2% per year).

In 2022, the average athletic footwear export price amounted to $X per pair, falling by -7.5% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 34%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per pair in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In 2022, overseas purchases of athletic footwear were finally on the rise to reach X pairs after six years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X pairs in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, China (X pairs) constituted the largest athletic footwear supplier to Kazakhstan, with a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, athletic footwear imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X pairs), threefold. Indonesia (X pairs) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at -2.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+33.1% per year) and Indonesia (+26.0% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of athletic footwear to Kazakhstan, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+34.2% per year) and Indonesia (+26.3% per year).

The average athletic footwear import price stood at $X per pair in 2022, falling by -11.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 60% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per pair in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Italy ($X per pair) and Turkey ($X per pair), while the price for Russia ($X per pair) and China ($X per pair) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
