As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then shrank notably in the following year.
In value terms, canned food exports contracted sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 29%. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) were the main destinations of canned food exports from Kazakhstan, with a combined 39% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2020, the biggest increases were recorded for Russia (with a CAGR of +11.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for canned food exported from Kazakhstan were Tajikistan ($X), Turkmenistan ($X) and Russia ($X), together accounting for 30% of total exports. Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 5.8%.
Mongolia, with a CAGR of -3.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The average canned food export price stood at $X per ton in 2020, dropping by -19.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mongolia (-10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Kazakhstan
In 2021, the amount of canned food imported into Kazakhstan was estimated at X tons, picking up by 11% on the previous year's figure. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +93.7% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +92.2% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2020, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of canned food to Kazakhstan, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, canned food imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), ninefold. Belarus (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Russia stood at +10.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-9.2% per year) and Belarus (+18.6% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of canned food to Kazakhstan, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Switzerland ($X), with a 4.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 4.1% share.
From 2012 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia amounted to +5.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Switzerland (-8.9% per year) and Belarus (+23.0% per year).

The average canned food import price stood at $X per ton in 2020, waning by -14.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2020, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
