Glass Fibre Fabrics Market Size in Kazakhstan

In 2022, the Kazakh glass fibre fabrics market decreased by -4.2% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a strong increase. Glass fibre fabrics consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports from Kazakhstan

Glass fibre fabrics exports from Kazakhstan declined to X tons in 2022, falling by -7.5% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports recorded a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 265%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, glass fibre fabrics exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 640%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

Exports by Country

Russia (X tons) was the main destination for glass fibre fabrics exports from Kazakhstan, with a 90% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fibre fabrics exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kyrgyzstan (X tons), ninefold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (-6.9% per year) and Ukraine (-38.6% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for glass fibre fabrics exports from Kazakhstan, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 3.7% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Russia amounted to +12.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (-3.9% per year) and Ukraine (-39.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average glass fibre fabrics export price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -29.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 275% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Kazakhstan

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of glass fibre fabrics decreased by -4.9% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 52%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

In value terms, glass fibre fabrics imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.7% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.

Russia (X tons), China (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fibre fabrics imports to Kazakhstan, together accounting for 96% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Russia (with a CAGR of +24.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, the largest glass fibre fabrics suppliers to Kazakhstan were Russia ($X), China ($X) and Belarus ($X), with a combined 88% share of total imports.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
