From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda totaled $X per ton.

Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, baryte imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
India (X tons), Mozambique (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of baryte imports to Kenya, together accounting for 69% of total imports. These countries were followed by China, the Netherlands, Vietnam, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 28%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +58.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
