In value terms, Tanzania ($X) remains the key foreign market for carbides exports from Kenya, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uganda ($X), with a 2.5% share of total exports.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uganda totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda (+17.5%).

Imports into Kenya
In 2022, approx. X tons of carbides were imported into Kenya; waning by -13% on 2021. In general, imports saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 78% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, carbides imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight shrinkage. China (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) were the main suppliers of carbides imports to Kenya, with a combined 65% share of total imports. Hong Kong SAR, the UK, the United Arab Emirates and Argentina lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
