Rwanda (X cubic meters), Tanzania (X cubic meters) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of fiberboard exports from Kenya, with a combined 95% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Rwanda (with a CAGR of +23.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Rwanda ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials exports from Kenya, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tanzania ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a 4.2% share.

Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Kenya
After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials increased by 10% to X cubic meters in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 68%. Imports peaked at X cubic meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fiberboard imports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 79%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Uganda (X cubic meters), China (X cubic meters) and Malaysia (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of fiberboard imports to Kenya, together comprising 90% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Uganda (with a CAGR of +24.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest fiberboard suppliers to Kenya were Uganda ($X), China ($X) and Malaysia ($X), together comprising 87% of total imports.
Uganda, with a CAGR of +19.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average fiberboard import price amounted to $X per cubic meter, with a decrease of -3.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 16%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Malaysia ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
