Rwanda (X pairs), Uganda (X pairs) and Somalia (X pairs) were the main destinations of gloves exports from Kenya, together comprising 12% of total exports.

Gloves imports into Kenya reduced modestly to X pairs in 2022, falling by -4% against the previous year. In general, imports showed a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X pairs in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, gloves imports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of gloves, mittens and mitts (excluding knitted or crocheted) to Kenya, comprising 97% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 6.5% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 3.5% share.
From 2013 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +1.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-22.6% per year) and India (-4.4% per year).
