The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2022, imports of honey into Kenya declined notably to X tons, which is down by -30.7% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 147%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.

Tanzania (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of honey imports to Kenya, with a combined 75% share of total imports. China, Iran, Singapore, Australia and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Singapore (with a CAGR of +60.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Egypt ($X) constituted the largest supplier of honey to Kenya, comprising 46% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Tanzania, with a 7.3% share.
