The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 185%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, illuminated sign imports contracted dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 174%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

Malaysia (X tons), China (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of illuminated sign imports to Kenya, with a combined 52% share of total imports. Turkey, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Rwanda and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while the price for Rwanda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
