The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 335% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Uganda (X tons) was the main destination for man-made filament yarn exports from Kenya, accounting for a 69% share of total exports. Moreover, man-made filament yarn exports to Uganda exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Democratic Republic of the Congo (X kg), fivefold. Rwanda (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 12% share.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, man-made filament yarn imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible curtailment.
