Matches Market Size in Kenya

The Kenyan matches market skyrocketed to $X in 2021, rising by 53% against the previous year. In general, consumption saw prominent growth. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, approx. X tons of matches were imported into Kenya; rising by 120% on 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 303% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, matches imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, faced a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 286%. In 2021, India (X tons) constituted the largest matches supplier to Kenya, with a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, matches imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Pakistan (X tons), twofold.
