The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 979% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Ukraine (X units) was the main destination for memories exports from Kenya, with a 78% share of total exports. Moreover, memories exports to Ukraine exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X units), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by South Korea (X units), with a 3.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Ukraine was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+29.3% per year) and South Korea (+12.5% per year).
In value terms, Ukraine ($X), the United States ($X) and South Korea ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for memories exported from Kenya worldwide, together comprising 83% of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, the United States, with a CAGR of +33.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average memories export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -66.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a notable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 299%. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Kenya
Memories imports into Kenya contracted rapidly to X units in 2021, falling by -79.1% compared with 2020 figures. In general, imports recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 377%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 489% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of memories to Kenya, with a 81% share of total imports. Moreover, memories imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X units), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Singapore (X units), with a 2.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +8.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (-12.3% per year) and Singapore (+28.4% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of multichip integrated circuits: memories to Kenya, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Australia, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +32.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+8.5% per year) and Australia (+29.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average memories import price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, memories import price increased by +5.7% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 45%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per unit), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+24.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
