As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, organo-inorganic compounds exports dropped remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 1,438% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Uganda (X tons) was the main destination for organo-inorganic compounds exports from Kenya, with a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, organo-inorganic compounds exports to Uganda exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ghana (X kg), threefold. Nigeria (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Uganda totaled +20.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (0.0% per year) and Nigeria (0.0% per year).

In value terms, Uganda ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) exports from Kenya, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Nigeria, with an 8.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Uganda stood at +24.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (0.0% per year) and Nigeria (0.0% per year).

In 2021, the average organo-inorganic compounds export price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -29% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports into Kenya

In 2021, purchases abroad of organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 166% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, organo-inorganic compounds imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 179%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), India (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) were the main suppliers of organo-inorganic compounds imports to Kenya, with a combined 67% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, South Africa, South Korea, Belgium, the UK, Canada and Tanzania, which together accounted for a further 21%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for South Africa (with a CAGR of +30.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
