Uganda (X kg), South Sudan (X kg) and Burundi (X kg) were the main destinations of cyclic hydrocarbons exports from Kenya, with a combined 90% share of total exports.

The average cyclic hydrocarbons export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -14.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 20%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Sudan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of other cyclic hydrocarbons, when their volume decreased by -27.5% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 2,134%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbons imports shrank significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 1,327% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Israel (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of cyclic hydrocarbons to Kenya, with a 86% share of total imports. Moreover, cyclic hydrocarbons imports from Israel exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Singapore (X tons), eightfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Israel totaled +35.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+29.5% per year) and the Netherlands (-21.8% per year).

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Israel stood at +36.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+23.0% per year) and the Netherlands (-19.0% per year).
