Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of plastic fittings for tubes, pipes and hoses shrank to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 160% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Uganda (X tons), Rwanda (X tons) and South Sudan (X tons) were the main destinations of exports of plastic fittings for tubes, pipes and hoses from Kenya, with a combined 81% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Nigeria and Burundi, which together accounted for a further 14%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Nigeria (with a CAGR of +86.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Rwanda ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Uganda ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for plastic fittings for tubes, pipes and hoses exported from Kenya worldwide, together comprising 73% of total exports.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of plastic fittings for tubes, pipes and hoses increased by 11% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 112%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of plastic fittings for tubes, pipes and hoses skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of plastic fittings for tubes, pipes and hoses to Kenya, accounting for a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of plastic fittings for tubes, pipes and hoses from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Egypt (X tons), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X tons), with a 6.3% share.

Overall, import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last nine-year period.
