In value terms, exports of plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip rose to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Uganda (X tons), Tanzania (X tons) and Zambia (X tons) were the main destinations of exports of plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip from Kenya, with a combined 63% share of total exports. Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, South Sudan and Democratic Republic of the Congo lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +35.0% against 2014 indices.
