In general, imports, however, showed tangible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 141%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, refined lead imports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 163% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

Tanzania (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main suppliers of refined lead imports to Kenya, with a combined 51% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of +29.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
