Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, silk yarn imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a precipitous decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 74%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Thailand (X kg), China (X kg) and India (X kg) were the main suppliers of silk yarn imports to Kenya, with a combined 96% share of total imports.
