Suspension System Market Size in Kenya

The Kenyan suspension system market fell to $X in 2022, waning by -7.2% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, the total consumption indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +8.8% against 2020 indices. Exports from Kenya

Suspension system exports from Kenya fell markedly to X tons in 2022, reducing by -53% on the year before. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 874%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, suspension system exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 2,487% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced notably in the following year.

Tanzania (X tons), Rwanda (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main destinations of suspension system exports from Kenya, together accounting for 64% of total exports. Bahrain, Brazil, Canada and Slovenia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bahrain (with a CAGR of +2,920.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Rwanda ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for suspension systems exports from Kenya, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Bahrain, with a 17% share.

In 2022, the average suspension system export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 10% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 166% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Kenya

In 2022, imports of suspension systems into Kenya reduced to X tons, falling by -6.8% on the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +8.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, suspension system imports fell to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest suspension system supplier to Kenya, with a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, suspension system imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Japan (X tons), with a 3.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +6.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+25.2% per year) and Japan (+12.3% per year).
