In value terms, rubber tube and pipe exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 170%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Indonesia (X tons) was the main destination for rubber tube and pipe exports from Kenya, accounting for a 57% share of total exports. Moreover, rubber tube and pipe exports to Indonesia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Uganda (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Tanzania (X kg), with a 4.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Indonesia totaled +150.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uganda (+28.8% per year) and Tanzania (+1.8% per year).

In value terms, Uganda ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Rwanda ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for rubber tube and pipe exported from Kenya worldwide, together accounting for 65% of total exports.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +97.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average rubber tube and pipe export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2021, imports of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber into Kenya skyrocketed to X tons, increasing by 41% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 101%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Moreover, rubber tube and pipe imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), with a 5.6% share.
