Rwanda (X tons) was the main destination for unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Kenya, accounting for a 79% share of total exports. Moreover, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports to Rwanda exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Tanzania (X tons), fivefold.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Rwanda, with a CAGR of +50.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, imports of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons into Kenya skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 579% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 2,358%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 709%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, South Korea (X tons) constituted the largest unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons supplier to Kenya, accounting for a 24% share of total imports. Moreover, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports from South Korea exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), threefold. Hong Kong SAR (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.6% share.

These countries were followed by South Africa, China, Belgium, Hong Kong SAR and India, which together accounted for a further 22%.

Among the main suppliers, Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +14.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons import price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -57.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 214%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
