From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

South Africa (X units) was the main destination for water-skis and surfboards exports from Kenya, accounting for a 82% share of total exports. Moreover, water-skis and surfboards exports to South Africa exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X units), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Estonia (X units), with a 6.1% share.

The average water-skis and surfboards export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -61.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a buoyant increase. Imports into Kenya
In 2022, the amount of water-skis, surfboards and sailboards imported into Kenya dropped markedly to X units, shrinking by -44% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 408%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, water-skis and surfboards imports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 252%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of water-skis and surfboards to Kenya, accounting for a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, water-skis and surfboards imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mauritius (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by South Africa (X units), with a 9.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +23.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mauritius (+69.3% per year) and South Africa (+17.9% per year).
