Tanzania (X units) was the main destination for x-ray apparatus exports from Kenya, accounting for a 91% share of total exports. Moreover, x-ray apparatus exports to Tanzania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Uganda (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United States (X units), with a 27% share.

In value terms, Uganda ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for x-ray apparatus exports from Kenya, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tanzania ($X), with a 28% share of total exports. It was followed by Somalia, with a 5.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Uganda amounted to +26.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tanzania (+32.8% per year) and Somalia (+2.2% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 675%. Imports peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray apparatus imports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 275%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, South Korea (X units) constituted the largest x-ray apparatus supplier to Kenya, accounting for a 33% share of total imports. Moreover, x-ray apparatus imports from South Korea exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), threefold. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 172% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while the price for South Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
