After two years of decline, overseas shipments of automotive lighting increased by 172% to X units in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a sharp contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 2,490%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, automotive lighting exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 3,636% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Australia (X units), Iraq (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) were the main destinations of automotive lighting exports from Kuwait, with a combined 71% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +41.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Australia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for automotive lighting exports from Kuwait, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Iraq, with a 7.9% share.

The average automotive lighting import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -18.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, automotive lighting import price increased by +63.7% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
